Notebook Preferences Checkboxes The three checkboxes below the Window name field (illustrated below) allow you to set up some default characteristics for your new Notebook. These are as follows: Allow User Edit: If this checkbox is selected, users of your new Notebook will be able to use the ‘Edit Text/Browse’ menu item in the File Menu. This menu toggles between the Edit mode, and the Browse mode. If this checkbox is not selected, the ‘Edit Text/Browse’ menu item will remain disabled. In Edit mode users can edit the text of any topic, and can modify the Font, style and sizes used to display the text. User's cannot add or delete topics or pictures. In Browse mode, the text for any topic cannot be editted or changed in any way. Also, if your topic list is in alphabetical order, then when the user types a key on the keyboard, the Notebook will skip the the first appropriate topic. See the topic entitled ‘Type Ahead’ for more information. Allow Copy : If this checkbox is selected, users of your new Notebook will be able to select portions of the topic text, and then use the 'Copy' item in the Edit Menu to copy that text to the Macintosh Clipboard. If this checkbox is not selected, the Copy menu item will remain disabled. Allow Save: When this checkbox is selected, the users of the new Notebook will be able to save all the topic information to a standard Macintosh TEXT file (which can be opened and read with most Macintosh word processing applications). Leave this checkbox unselected if you don't want your user's to be able to save the topic information to a separate file.
